Incredible opportunity to build a replica 8C with a genuine bodyshell. Or you could build a special - your own Disco Volante style car perhaps?!
This came from the bodyshop in Italy that painted and assembled them before they were sent to the Maserati plant to have the mechanicals fitted on the Granturismo production line. Despite easily selling all 500 Coupes, Alfa didn’t manage to sell all the Spiders as they cost 50% more than the coupe. This is one of the bodyshells that never got built into a completed car. The paintwork is generally good but there are some storage / transport marks - they had it in storage for 8 years and then it was transported to the UK in a lorry so a few small scuffs along the way. It is Bianco Madraperla - mother of pearl white - a stunning colour and the colour on all the Spider sales brochures etc.
You can now buy a good, undamaged Maserati Granturismo 4.7 MC Shift for circa £20k and this will give you all the major mechanical components that were used in the 8C and a V5 - the entire subframes unbolt from the Maserati front and rear and bolt straight on (which is why they were assembled on the Maserati production line!). Engine, gearbox and suspension all just bolts straight up, although it’s almost certain Alfa used different springs & shocks. In the photo of the front wheel arch you can see a Granturismo front subframe offered up to check the fit. The engine, gearbox and all major suspension components from a 4.7 Granturismo MC Shift are IDENTICAL to the ones used in an Alfa 8C!
Some time after buying this shell I also bought from Touring Superleggera many parts which they removed from 8C Spiders when they created the 8C based Disco Volante cars.
This bodyshell comes with front & rear bumpers, a hoodframe (with motor and mohair soft top) and boot lid included in the price. The bumpers also have all the grilles etc already fitted in them.
I have available by separate negotiation - all lights, a windscreen, a carbon dashboard and a few other items. Pleaseemail me for more info / photos.
