1964 SPRINT GT RACE CAR £50,000

1964 Giulia Sprint GT 1600 race car.
Sold new in Rome, and later raced in the UK, Germany and Norway.

German owner seems to have used Alfa Romeo specialist Alex Furiani and Ital Auto for operation and maintenance. The rear axle is, among other things, newly built by Furiani.

The car was imported to Norway by well-known historic racing profile Mads Gjerdrum. He was not satisfied with the finish so the car was fully restored. The engine broke down on the first run and the car was put into storage.

With the help of Norway's Alfa Romeo specialist Bjorn Ivar Iversen, I have built a new engine. The GTA gearbox was fitted by Sweden's foremost Alfa Romeo specialist Kaare Linden.

The car has been in my possession since 2012 and never driven more than a test drive.

The car has an old HTP that needs to be renewed. The petrol tank also needs to be renewed for international races.

It sits on new 14" Campagnolo GTA rims with Dunlop M5. 50, but I don't think they are homologated for a Sprint. It also comes with a set of 15" steel rims with R tires.

A thick binder with documentation and history follows the car, with a lot of receipts in German deutchmark and Italien lire.

The car was white with a red nose in Germany.

I have not attached the Sebring mirror, but it comes with the car along with some parts.

Engine spec: (Jim Evans spec) 142 honest hp.

Cosworth forged 78. 75mm pistons with H-bars.
Jim Evans EN524 Hollow 12mm camshafts
Large valves
45 mm Dellorto carburetors with full radius funnels.
Original forged crank, and original mechanical clutch.
123 ignition
Aluminium radiator GTA style made in Norway.

Gearbox:
Bacci Romano GTA gear from Classic Alfa. New.

Rear axle:
9:43 Alex Furiani gripper differential. New

Brakes:
Original Dunlop discs all round.

Chassis:
Koni dampers
Racing springs (very stiff, and typical Italian set up)
Otherwise general refurbished

Cons: There are 3-4 scratches from storage. The paint around one window wiper is loose, but no rust.
The engine has a detachable sump guard that makes it very low. I would probably lift the car 1 inch for racing.

50,000 GBP.
